Following the shocking news of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota’s death, the football world was thrown into turmoil. Some fans, in particular, made a notable blunder: after hearing the tragic announcement, they flocked to the Instagram of another Portuguese player, Diogo Dalot, and began posting their condolences in his comments section.
It seems that supporters confused the two Portuguese stars who share the same first name, and rushed to leave “Rest in peace” messages under Dalot’s latest Instagram post. Other fans, noticing the mistake, tried to set the record straight in the comments, pointing out that this was a different Diogo.
It’s worth noting that Dalot and Jota played together for the Portuguese national team and, just a month ago, celebrated winning the Nations League title.
As a reminder, today brought the tragic news of Liverpool’s Diogo Jota’s passing. The footballer and his younger brother were involved in a car accident, which claimed both their lives. Jota is survived by his wife, whom he married only ten days ago, and their three children.
