RIP. Bayern Munich legend passed away
German football is mourning the loss of one of the key figures behind Bayern Munich's historic success.
Details: Former Bayern Munich assistant coach Peter Hermann passed away on Saturday, September 19, at the age of 74, the German club confirmed in an official statement. The renowned specialist had been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an incurable neurological disease, for a long time.
Hermann is best remembered for his work alongside Jupp Heynckes. In the 2012/13 season, he was the head coach's right-hand man as Bayern completed the first treble in the club's history, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League.
The German coach worked in Munich from 2011 to 2013 before returning with Heynckes in the autumn of 2017. Following Heynckes' departure in the summer of 2018, Hermann remained at Bayern for another season as part of Niko Kovač's coaching staff.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer expressed his condolences to Hermann's family and loved ones, emphasizing that the club's historic 2013 treble will forever be associated with his name.
It's worth noting that Hermann worked as an assistant coach in more than 1,000 matches throughout his career. During his time at Bayern, he helped the club win one Champions League, three Bundesliga titles, two German Cups and two German Supercups.
