RIP. 25-year-old Premier League player dies suddenly
A terrible tragedy has shaken Portuguese and English football.
Details: Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Quevin Castro has tragically passed away at the age of 25. The footballer was representing Portuguese side Real Sport Clube in a friendly against Estrela da Amadora when he suddenly collapsed on the pitch just 10 minutes after kick-off.
Medical personnel immediately rushed to Castro's aid. A club doctor attempted to resuscitate the midfielder and used a defibrillator, while emergency services were called to the stadium. The 25-year-old was subsequently transported to hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life.
Castro was born in Portugal and grew up in England. During his career he represented a number of English clubs and also had trial spells with Arsenal and Chelsea. In July 2021, West Bromwich Albion officially signed the midfielder on a two-year contract after a successful trial.
It is worth noting that Castro made his West Brom first-team debut in an EFL Cup match against Arsenal in August 2021. He later made one Championship appearance for the club, coming on as a substitute against Swansea City in February 2022.
