French boxing has lost a promising fighter.
Details: According to Le Parisien, the body of 24-year-old French boxer Ishaq Bentchakal was found today in Drancy, France, with four gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
Bentchakal died at the scene from injuries that were incompatible with life. Police have launched an investigation, but the perpetrator has yet to be found.
Ishaq was twice a silver medalist at the French boxing championships and also fought four times as a professional: three wins and one loss. His last bout was in March 2024, where he secured a victory over Edisson Budivan.
Bentchakal was also called up to the French national boxing team, but chose to remain in Nancy with his family rather than move to Paris.
Bentchakal's career began to unravel after the onset of COVID, and the Frenchman was repeatedly involved in offenses related to drugs and extortion.
