Dieter Herzog, the 1974 World Cup winner, has passed away at the age of 79.
Details: Bayer Leverkusen announced the death of their former player Dieter Herzog, who spent seven years with the “Pharmacists” and became a true club legend.
Herzog was part of the West Germany squad at the 1974 home World Cup, which ended in a German triumph. Under national coach Helmut Schön, he featured in two matches of the tournament, facing Yugoslavia (2-0) and Sweden (4-2).
In addition to Bayer, Herzog also played for German sides Fortuna and Hamborn 07.
