Colombe Sportive’s historic qualification for the group stage of the 2026–2027 CAF Champions League is a source of pride for their head coach, Richard Towa.

Having won the first leg in Dakar (2–0) against Teungueth FC, the Cameroonians consolidated their lead in the return leg on Sunday 25 October in Yaoundé, securing another 1–0 victory. This win secured them, for the first time in their history, a place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Following the second leg, Richard Towa emphasised the significance of this qualification for Cameroonian football. The Colombe Sportive head coach praised his players’ performance.

“This victory is for all Cameroonians, as we needed this success to ensure Cameroonian football retained its place in the tournament. That is why we can be very proud of these young players’ performance.

“We decided to press them high up the pitch early on and then had to sit deep in midfield. That is exactly what the players managed to do. I think we can congratulate them.”
