Richard Ortiz Addresses Criticism, Urges Fans to Stand by Olimpia
Olimpia captain Richard Ortiz has spoken out amid growing criticism from supporters after the team’s recent struggles. With three consecutive winless matches in the domestic league and a tough Libertadores campaign ahead, Ortiz used a press conference to deliver a message of understanding, resilience, and unity.
“I understand the fans. At this club, the expectation is always to win every match,” Ortiz said. “We didn’t start well, but we’re not throwing in the towel. We ask for your continued support. There’s still a long way to go, and it’s all in our hands now.”
Olimpia ended the first half of the Apertura with 18 points, trailing undefeated leaders Libertad by nine. As the team prepares to juggle both domestic and continental competitions, Ortiz believes they’re close to turning things around. “If we can win two or three games, we’ll regain our confidence,” he added.
The captain also acknowledged the demanding stretch ahead. “We’ll be playing every three days for almost two months. Now it’s time to show what we’ve been working for.”
Ortiz’s words aim to rally both the team and the fanbase, signaling determination and belief that Olimpia can still compete on all fronts despite the slow start. With a crucial Libertadores opener looming, all eyes are on how the squad will respond under pressure.
