Ricardo Sá Pinto Rallies Raja Casablanca Ahead of Sundowns Showdown
Before Raja Casablanca's important CAF Champions League game against Mamelodi Sundowns, head coach Ricardo Sá Pinto spoke to the media with a strong and confident attitude. The game, happening on Sunday in South Africa, is very important for both teams as it is the third matchday.
During the press conference before the game, Sá Pinto talked about the difficulties his team faced while getting ready for the match, especially dealing with high-altitude conditions and very hot weather, with temperatures going up to 34°C. "We've practiced every day on natural grass in conditions that are not what we're used to. But our first game against Maniema helped us get used to it better," he said.
Acknowledging Sundowns' quality, Sá Pinto noted the tactical and technical prowess of their South African opponents. “Sundowns are a formidable team with exceptional players like Iqraam Rayners and Marcelo Allende, who can turn games around. They are among the best teams in Africa because of their ability to control possession," he remarked.
Sá Pinto maintained his optimism, though, emphasizing his team's willingness to take advantage of Sundowns' vulnerabilities. "Under Miguel Cardoso, a coach I know well, we have examined their games. His philosophy is built on possession and playing from the back. We’ve identified areas where we can capitalize,” he added.
Sá Pinto’s rallying cry was clear: bring home three points. "This match is an opportunity to prove our worth at the highest level. We’re here to fight, stay disciplined, and win the crucial duels. Team spirit and unity will be key."
Raja Casablanca is ready for a match that might decide their CAF Champions League season as kickoff approaches. The game on Sunday is expected to be a tactical chess match in which both sides try to take control in order to win the championship.
