Despite the victory, the coach of the Ivory Coast women's national team says his team is not yet mentally and tactically ready.

The French tactician scrutinised his players' performance after the international friendly match played on Saturday 28 February as part of the FIFA Women's Series. The Ivorians emerged victorious from the match 2-1, but for Reynald Pedros, victory alone is not enough for a team preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.

We're not ready to play at a high level, we're not mentally ready, we're not tactically ready. I think that everything we had prepared during the week, tactically and defensively, we had a lot of trouble sticking to it. And then, beyond the two goals scored, which are of course encouraging, we put ourselves under additional pressure by putting ourselves in danger and losing confidence unnecessarily. The score is positive because we scored two goals, but the content is absolutely not satisfactory.

On the pitch on Saturday, coach Pedros said he noticed that his players were less focused than they are during training sessions. These are things that will need to be corrected in the next friendly match against Kenya on 4 March.

I'm not satisfied with the behaviour, both individually and collectively, and that's what bothers me the most. Compared to what we worked on this week, I saw players who were very committed, very focused and very determined. But then I saw different players, at least some of them. And I don't like that at all. So we'll have to get back to work, we'll have to put some things back in order. And then prepare for the Kenya match to show, for me at least, in relation to what we expect, a different side in a few days' time.
