On Thursday, December 26, Boxing Day fixtures kick off with Manchester City hosting Everton. However, a surprising development has already occurred before the match.

Details: According to Opta, this is the first time in seven years that neither Kyle Walker, Ederson, John Stones, nor Jack Grealish are in the starting lineup. Additionally, Kevin De Bruyne and İlkay Gündoğan are also absent from the starting XI, but are on the bench and could impact the game later.

The last time such a situation happened was on May 13, 2017, when City defeated Leicester 2-1.

Interestingly, while Manchester City’s on-field performance hasn’t yet signaled deeper issues, the club remains under scrutiny due to allegations of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations. Adding to the tension, manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that failing to qualify for the Champions League would cause significant financial problems for the club.

Reminder: Guardiola has also expressed his intent to shake things up within the team and is reportedly ready to part ways with several key players.
