Atlético Madrid continue their search for a solution on the left side of defense. The signing of Matteo Ruggeri has not lived up to expectations—the Italian has failed to secure a spot in the starting lineup, forcing Diego Simeone to experiment by deploying central defender David Hancko in that position.
Details: According to Fichajes, Marc Cucurella—currently playing for Chelsea and the Spanish national team—is a candidate for the role. Madrid value his versatility, high work rate, and ability to join the attack.
However, the Spaniard’s transfer appears financially challenging. Atlético are unlikely to afford a big-money move, and Cucurella’s salary is among the highest at Chelsea. Nevertheless, the Madrid club continue to monitor the situation and are ready to act should an opportunity arise.
The Spaniard’s current contract runs until 2028. His value on Transfermarkt is €45 million.
This season, the Spanish defender has made fifteen appearances for the London club across all competitions, providing two assists.
Reminder: Chelsea have challenged Real in the race for Nico Paz.
