After UEFA Euro 2024 on home soil, Manuel Neuer announced his retirement from international football, but it now appears that decision may have come too soon.

Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the German shot-stopper is set to return to the national team and will be called up for the 2026 World Cup.

We previously reported that Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi will not be included in the squad and will therefore miss the 2026 World Cup.

Germany will begin their World Cup campaign on June 20 with a match against Curaçao. They will also face Côte d’Ivoire and Ecuador in the group stage.

Neuer made his Germany debut on June 2, 2009, in a friendly against the United Arab Emirates, with Germany claiming a 7-2 victory. In 2014, he played a crucial role in helping the team lift the World Cup trophy.

Reminder: Meanwhile, Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has already unveiled the final 26-man squad set to represent the Seleção at the tournament.
