In the 30th round of French Ligue 1, a derby between Saint-Étienne and Lyon is currently underway.
The atmosphere in the stands was tense even before the match started, reaching its peak at the end of the first half when a foreign object thrown from the stands hit the linesman.
It is suspected that a coin was thrown at the assistant referee's head from the Saint-Étienne supporters' section. Referee François Letexier decided to halt the match and took the teams off the field at the very end of the first half.
Reports suggest discussions are ongoing in the tunnel about whether the match can continue. If the game does not resume within 45 minutes of being stopped, it will officially be considered definitively halted.
It should be noted that Lyon fans are not present at this match, in accordance with a prefectural decree.
