Suryavanshi has earned a national team call-up.
Details: Legendary former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan heaped praise on 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals player Vaibhav Suryavanshi after his dazzling performance in the opening match of IPL 2026, urging the Indian selectors to take notice of the young prodigy.

During the first match of IPL 2026, Suryavanshi smashed 52 runs off just 17 balls, propelling the Rajasthan Royals to their target in only 12.1 overs.
Such a stunning feat at such a young age left Vaughan truly impressed:
“When will he debut for India? I’m only just watching now and I realize we’re probably getting ahead of ourselves. It’s only the first IPL innings, but in a few months there’s a tour of England with limited-overs matches. And if I were part of Indian cricket, I’d take him along for that tour. He doesn’t necessarily have to make the playing XI right away, but he needs to get into the Indian squad and experience the environment that is Indian cricket,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
Suryavanshi also made waves in the cricket world by scoring 175 runs in the final against England, securing victory in the U-19 World Cup and earning both the “Player of the Match” and “Player of the Tournament” awards in the final.
At the U-19 World Cup, Suryavanshi finished as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer, amassing 439 runs in seven matches.
