Real Madrid's transfer targets have changed. Haaland is unlikely to move to the Spanish capital
The transfer saga involving Kylian Mbappé's move to Real Madrid concluded this week, with Los Blancos officially announcing the signing of the Frenchman.
While this news undoubtedly delighted the fans of the Spanish champions, it may have also brought some disappointment.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid has long held an interest in Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and had considered signing him in 2025. However, the chances of the Norwegian moving to Spain have significantly diminished following Mbappé's transfer.
The primary reasons for this are financial. Real Madrid's management believes it would be very challenging to accommodate the salaries of both Mbappé and Haaland within the club's structure. Notably, Mbappé will become the highest-paid player on the team next season.
Furthermore, it is highlighted that Haaland earns 100% of the rights to his image, a condition that Real Madrid cannot accommodate in the event of his signing. This issue was a significant point of discussion during the negotiations with Mbappé. If Los Blancos were to start talks with Manchester City, this clause would likely be a major factor.
