Real Madrid and Austria defender David Alaba has yet to play a match this year.

The veteran defender has been sidelined since mid-December after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in his knee during a match against Villarreal on December 17.

However, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for Alaba. According to Madrid Zone, the defender is set to resume running training in two weeks.

In the 2023/2024 season, the Austrian played 17 matches for Real Madrid across all competitions, contributing 3 assists.

Due to the injury, Alaba also missed Euro 2024. Despite his absence from the field, the defender was present on the bench throughout his national team's campaign.
