Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, has truly monumental plans for the summer. Beyond a series of high-profile transfers, the club is also contemplating a change in the managerial position.

Details: According to Sport Bild, Real Madrid’s management is reportedly eyeing Xabi Alonso, who has enjoyed unprecedented success at Bayer Leverkusen, as the ideal candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti. Madrid believes Alonso could be the perfect successor for the Italian manager.

Ancelotti’s current contract with Real runs until the summer of 2026, but there is a possibility that he may step down at the conclusion of this season.

Alonso himself has never hidden his ambition to manage Real Madrid, the club he once represented as a player.

Reminder: Under Alonso's stewardship, Bayer Leverkusen clinched their first-ever Bundesliga title last season, remaining unbeaten throughout the campaign. Additionally, Bayer triumphed in the DFB-Pokal and reached the Europa League final, where they lost to Atalanta 0-3.
