Real Madrid star Valverde joked about divorcing his wife over the Copa Libertadores final

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde and his wife, Mina Bonino, are a very happy couple. However, a challenging moment may be looming in their relationship.

Details: Valverde is a lifelong fan and product of Uruguay’s Peñarol academy, while Mina Bonino has supported River Plate since childhood. Both clubs have reached the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores this season, and there’s a real possibility they could face off in the final.

In an interview with ESPN, Valverde was asked about the prospect of such a final, to which he jokingly replied:

“I hope we get a Peñarol vs. River Plate final. I think it could even lead to a divorce,” said the Real Madrid star with a laugh.

Peñarol will face Botafogo in the semifinals, while River Plate will take on Atlético Mineiro.
