The legendary Luka Modrić has declined Carlo Ancelotti's offer to join the coaching staff of Real Madrid after the conclusion of the current season.

According to Marca, the 38-year-old Croatian does intend to leave Real after 12 years with the club but currently has no plans to retire. It is likely that he will continue to be involved with Real Madrid in some capacity, although not in the upcoming season.

Previously, Modrić did not rule out the possibility that his last tournament in his career could be the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The current contract of the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner with the Madrid club is set to expire in June of this year. Modrić is discontented with his current role in the team, leading him to opt not to extend his contract.

Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer (MLS), and his hometown club Dinamo Zagreb are mentioned as possible destinations for the continuation of Modrić's career.
