Yesterday, the head coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, announced an extended roster of 29 players who will prepare for Euro 2024. Notably absent from this list is the seasoned Real Madrid wingback, Lucas Vázquez.
Following the announcement, Vázquez posted a message on his social media page X with two laughing emojis, but later removed it.
In recent seasons, Vázquez has been playing as a right-back. De la Fuente has preferred two other veterans in this position—Dani Carvajal and Jesús Navas.
This season, Vázquez has recorded 3 goals and 8 assists in 37 matches across all competitions.
In Euro 2024, Spain will face Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the group stage. Their first match will be on June 15 against Croatia.
