Real Madrid has been in contact with the head coach of Brighton

Real Madrid has expressed interest in Brighton's head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, as reported by the Spanish outlet Sport.es.

The Italian specialist is among the candidates for the position of the head coach at the royal club. According to sources, the representatives of the club have already been in contact with the Italian. They see him as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, who is likely to take charge of the Brazilian national team after the end of the season.

It is also reported that Real Madrid aims to refresh the coaching staff and find a specialist who works well with young talents. Hence, the club has turned its attention to De Zerbi.

After a successful stint with Sassuolo, De Zerbi received several offers from stronger Italian and foreign clubs. However, he chose to continue his work with Shakhtar Donetsk, becoming the head coach in 2021.

Alongside him, his former assistants from Sassuolo, including Paolo Bianco, Davide Possanzini, and Salvatore Monaco, joined the coaching staff of the Donetsk club.

In July 2022, De Zerbi terminated his contract with Shakhtar. He took over as the head coach of Brighton in the English Premier League and guided them to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
