Real Madrid was unhappy with the officiating in their La Liga match against Espanyol and filed a complaint with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The club’s request has now been granted.
Details: According to Marca, the "Royal Club" has been given access to the VAR conversations from the Espanyol match. On Monday, February 17, the Technical Committee of Referees will receive a delegation from the club to review the audio.
Earlier this week, Real Madrid requested to listen again to the discussions between referee Munuera Montero and VAR official Iglesias Villanueva.
Real Madrid has also budgeted for a Champions League quarterfinal appearance this season. If they fail to progress, the club will suffer financial losses.
Reminder. Real Madrid’s leadership criticized the work of the refereeing team in the match against Espanyol (0:1), pointing out several serious mistakes by the referee. As a result, Madrid filed a complaint with the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
By the way, earlier, Barcelona's head coach Hansi Flick stated that criticizing referees is not the way the Catalan club operates.
