Real Madrid defender Raúl Asensio faces four years in prison over sex video scandal
Real Madrid footballer Raúl Asensio has found himself at the center of a major scandal, facing accusations linked to child pornography. According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Asensio could face up to four years behind bars if found guilty.
The player's legal team has dismissed the allegations, insisting Asensio was not involved in the incident, nor in the recording or distribution of the video in question. However, the Supreme Court of the Canary Islands has upheld the decision to continue the investigation, stating that there is sufficient evidence to further examine Asensio's potential role in the case.
This means Asensio's defense team's appeal to have the investigation dropped has been rejected.
To recap, Asensio is accused of distributing a video depicting sexual activity involving a 16-year-old girl. The incident reportedly took place back in June 2023. The Madrid footballer is being charged with disclosure of secrets and related offenses connected to child pornography.
Reports indicate that the lawyers representing the alleged victim are seeking £48,900 in compensation and a daily fine of £16.86 for a period of 10 months.
