Real Madrid defeated Getafe thanks to Joselu's double and ascended to the top spot in La Liga

Real Madrid visited Getafe in a rescheduled match of the 20th round of the Spanish La Liga.

The Madrid team needed a victory to surpass Girona and claim the sole lead in the championship.

The Whites encountered no resistance from the opponent in the first half, preventing the hosts from registering a single shot towards Andriy Lunin's goal. The teams went into halftime with Carlo Ancelotti's side holding a slim lead, with Joselu causing disappointment for the home team.

Early in the second half, Getafe showed some signs of life and initiated several promising attacks. However, they couldn't find the net, while Joselu practically sealed the match with a brace.

Throughout the remaining time, both teams had opportunities to score, with Vinicius missing two excellent chances. Getafe also had moments, but no additional goals materialized.

Ancelotti's team now leads Girona by two points. Getafe holds the tenth position in the league table.
