Real Madrid Champions League abuser Jonathan David becomes Barcelona transfer target
Barcelona continues its search for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Although the Polish striker's contract runs until 2026, he will be 37 by the start of next season, and it is likely that he will need to make way for a younger generation.

Details: Barcelona has been scouting potential successors for Lewandowski for some time. Previously, it was reported that Sporting’s forward Viktor Gyökeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško are on the Catalan club’s radar. However, their most ambitious target remains Erling Haaland.
Now, a new name has emerged on their shortlist. According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona is closely monitoring Jonathan David from Lille. The 24-year-old striker’s contract expires at the end of this season, potentially giving Barcelona the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer.
This would be an ideal scenario for Barcelona given their current financial situation. David’s form has been impressive this season. In six Ligue 1 matches, he has netted five goals, and he also scored the only goal for Lille in their UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
Reminder: Jonathan David is a product of the Ottawa Internationals academy. In 2018, just nine days after turning 18, he joined Gent as a free agent, and two years later, Lille secured his services for €25 million. His current market value is estimated at €50 million.
