Real Madrid begins the UEFA Champions League playoffs with a narrow victory

The Champions League resumed after the break. On Tuesday, February 13th, Real Madrid traveled to face RB Leipzig in the first leg of the round of 16.

The game started with a quick goal from the hosts. Benjamin Sesko seemed to score in the second minute, but the referees disallowed the goal for offside. However, replays showed that the decision was quite controversial. Overall, the first half of the match was fairly balanced, so a goalless draw was a somewhat expected outcome.

After the break, Real managed to open the scoring. In the 48th minute, Dias dribbled past several defenders and struck a beautiful shot into the far corner of Leipzig's goal. The hosts had a few good chances in the second half and could have salvaged the match. However, Real Madrid's goalkeeper Andriy Lunin proved to be a barrier for the German team.

Real Madrid narrowly defeats RB Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The second leg will take place in March, on the 6th.
