Real Madrid becomes the first football club with €1 billion in operating income
A highly successful 2023/2024 season, crowned with victories in the Champions League and La Liga, has resulted in record-breaking profits for Real Madrid, setting a new milestone in world football.
Details: According to a report by Football Benchmark Group, Real Madrid has become the first football club in history to declare an annual operating income exceeding €1 billion (€1.065 billion).
The club’s revenue increased by over €200 million compared to the previous season, largely due to the newly renovated Santiago Bernabéu, which now generates significantly higher profits. However, expenses also grew, with squad costs rising by €48 million. Last season, the club spent €505 million on player wages alone, representing 47% of its income.
Reminder: Earlier reports confirmed that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez will remain at the helm of the club for another four-year term.
