Real is already in the final. FIFA announces the schedule for the revamped Intercontinental Cup
FIFA Council unanimously approved significant decisions regarding the new Intercontinental Cup, an annual club tournament organized by FIFA, set to replace the former Club World Cup. The tournament will feature champions from six confederations in an updated format.
The 2024 edition will kick off on September 22 and conclude on December 18, with five matches on the schedule. The first two will take place in the home countries of the host teams, while the remaining matches will be held in Qatar.
In the first playoff of the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup, AFC Champions League 2023-2024 winner Al Ain will face OFC Champions League 2024 winner Auckland City in Al Ain, UAE, on September 22, 2024.
The second match will be held on October 29, 2024, in Cairo, where the winner of the playoff will face Al Ahly, the 2023-2024 CAF Champions League winner, for the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup.
The third match, dubbed the "FIFA Derby of the Americas," will take place on December 11, 2024. In this match, Pachuca, the winner of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup, will compete against the 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores champion, who will be determined on November 30.
The winners of the second and third matches will clash on December 14, 2024, in the fourth match for the FIFA Challenger Cup and a spot in the final.
The final match is scheduled for December 18, 2024, in Doha, coinciding with Qatar's National Day and the anniversary of the 2022 World Cup final. In this match, Real Madrid, the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League winner, will face the FIFA Challenger Cup champion.
