Rayados de Monterrey may have found their next homegrown gem in Joaquín Moxica, a 19-year-old striker born in Nuevo León. According to Fútbol Total, Moxica debuted in Liga MX back in 2023, but it’s the ongoing Clausura 2025 that could mark his real breakthrough under the leadership of Martín Demichelis. The Argentine coach, facing mounting pressure, has turned to young talents, and Moxica seems to be making the most of his chance.

Joaquín Alejandro Moxica Chapa has been with Monterrey since the Apertura 2021, rising through every youth level—from U-16 to U-23. This season, he has been one of the top performers in the U-23 league, scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances.

Although his first-team minutes have been limited—just 13 this campaign after a 15-minute debut in 2023—his impact on the field has been immediate. His emergence adds to a growing list of successful youth products at Rayados, including César Montes.

Internationally, Moxica has already featured for Mexico’s U-17 squad, with 10 caps and two goals. He also won a Concacaf youth title, showcasing his potential on the regional stage.

As Rayados look to the future, Moxica represents both local pride and national promise. If given consistent playing time, he could soon be a regular fixture not just in Monterrey’s lineup, but also in the national team’s plans.
