Ratcliffe initiates cuts among Manchester United's top management
Manchester United's new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has faced criticism for making cuts among the club's ordinary staff. However, it turns out the shake-up is also reaching the executive suite.
Details: As revealed by former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson, Manchester United's management team was first inflated, only to undergo a series of changes, such as Dan Ashworth's departure and Sir Dave Brailsford's return to INEOS.
Borson believes this move will not only reduce costs, but also streamline decision-making by requiring fewer votes.
Quote: "I would say this is one of the few things they've actually got right. I gave a few quotes for an article about the regime change in The Guardian about 18 months ago, and this is something I pointed out back then. There were simply so many very high-ranking people around. So, you had the Glazers, and they have two who I think are co-chairmen.
Then you have Ratcliffe. Then two of Ratcliffe's lieutenants as executive directors. Then you had Brailsford. Then you had the actual CEO. Then you had Dan Ashworth. Then you had Jason Wilcox. It was layer upon layer of top management.
It seems this has been a constant process, and now they appear to have gotten rid of many of them, which will result in significant savings. I also think it will simplify decision-making, and I believe things will become more normal," Borson told Football Insider.
