The 1997 Skybox EX-2001 Essential Credentials Now card received a PSA grade of 5. Given that only three of these cards were ever produced, expectations were high, with auctioneers initially estimating a sale price of around $200,000. However, the final bid far exceeded even their boldest predictions.
This sale shattered the previous record for any Iverson collectible, which had stood at approximately $80,000. It also became the most expensive Allen Iverson-related item ever sold.
Interest in the card was immense, with 58 bids placed during the auction. The identity of the winning bidder has not been disclosed.
Iverson, an 11-time NBA All-Star, was named All-Star Game MVP in 2001 and 2005 and remains one of the most iconic players in NBA history.
