Paraguayan winger Ramón Sosa is on the verge of leaving Nottingham Forest to join Brazilian giants Palmeiras, according to La Nación. The deal is nearly finalized, pending only the player's signature to become official.

The transfer would reportedly be worth around $14 million, underlining Palmeiras’ long-standing interest in the 25-year-old. The club had previously eyed him for the Club World Cup, but talks didn’t materialize at the time. Over the past 20 days, negotiations accelerated, and sources close to the player indicate he is set to exit Europe.

Should the move go through, Palmeiras would become Sosa’s sixth professional club. He previously played for River Plate and Olimpia in Paraguay, Gimnasia and Talleres in Argentina, and most recently in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest. At Palmeiras, he would join compatriot Gustavo Gómez, the team’s captain and a key player for Paraguay’s national team.

The São Paulo-based club, a three-time Copa Libertadores champion (1999, 2020, 2021), is aiming to strengthen its squad for the rest of the season. With domestic and continental ambitions on the horizon, Sosa’s pace and flair could bring fresh attacking options to Abel Ferreira’s side.
