Raja Casablanca Fails to Reach CAF Champions League Quarterfinals Despite Win
Raja Casablanca’s hopes of advancing to the CAF Champions League quarterfinals were dashed despite a 1-0 win over Congolese side Maniema on Sunday at the Arab Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The match saw Raja’s Adam Nefati convert a penalty in the 45th minute, following the red card of Maniema’s player, Tambouri.
While Raja earned three points to reach 8 points in Group B, it was not enough to secure a top-two finish. They finished third, behind South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, who clinched 9 points after a 1-1 draw with Royal Army, and Morocco’s Raja, who ended with 10 points. Maniema finished last in the group with just 3 points.
Raja supporters expressed their displeasure with the club's administration despite the win, chanting for the board to quit. After the game, the players were greeted with jeers as they headed to their locker rooms.
