Racing Club have secured their fourth signing of the transfer window with the arrival of striker Elías Torres, according to Clarín. The 24-year-old forward joins from Aldosivi in a deal worth $3 million for 80 percent of his rights, with the Mar del Plata club retaining the remaining 20 percent.
Born in Ucacha, Córdoba, and a former Boca Juniors youth player, Torres was instrumental in Aldosivi’s promotion campaign. He scored six goals in the recent Apertura and totaled 17 goals across 74 appearances with the club.
Manager Gustavo Costas is bringing Torres in as a potential partner or backup for Maravilla Martínez, especially given Adrián Balboa’s underwhelming form. The player is expected to travel to Buenos Aires shortly for his medical and will then join the squad.
Racing initially pursued Alejo Véliz, but the 21-year-old returned to Rosario Central. With that option off the table, sporting director Diego Milito turned to Torres. The club also added Duván Vergara, Alan Forneris from Colón, and Tomás Conechny, who is set to sign after leaving Spanish side Alavés.
