Racing Moves in the Transfer Market: Salas’ Replacement Could Come from Platense

Racing is already preparing for the possible departure of Maximiliano Salas to River Plate. The technical staff, led by Gustavo Costas, has identified a strong candidate to fill the striker’s spot: Ronaldo Martínez, a Paraguayan forward from Platense. Martínez recently won the Torneo Apertura with Platense and has attracted attention for his power and consistency—qualities that fit Racing’s offensive profile.
Costas emphasizes the need for high-quality attacking options to offset Salas’ potential exit. Negotiations with Martínez’s camp have begun informally. Platense is open to selling but expects a fee near two million dollars. Martínez himself views the move as a positive step forward.
Although his contract runs through December 2026, Martínez’s release clause is considered manageable. Racing officials remain optimistic about closing the deal soon. His arrival would mark one of the first major moves in the market for Racing and a crucial reinforcement should Salas leave for River Plate.
