Racing Closing in on Alejo Véliz Signing from Tottenham

Racing Club are on the verge of securing a major signing, with Tottenham striker Alejo Véliz close to joining the Argentine side, La Noticia Web reported Friday. The deal would see Racing acquire 100% of the player’s economic rights for $7 million, while Tottenham would retain a 30% sell-on clause.
If finalized, Véliz would become the club’s third reinforcement under head coach Gustavo Costas, following the arrivals of Duván Vergara and Alan Forneris. His signing comes as Racing prepare for the likely departure of Maximiliano Salas to River Plate and aim to strengthen their attacking depth alongside Adrián Martínez.
Véliz, 20, was considered one of Argentina’s top young talents during his spell at Rosario Central before moving to England. His return to domestic football would be a major statement from Racing as they gear up for a strong Copa Libertadores push.
Meanwhile, Vergara and Forneris have already joined the team’s preseason in Paraguay. The Colombian winger signed through December 2028, while Forneris, a 20-year-old midfielder from Colón, agreed to a deal through 2029 and is viewed as a long-term prospect.
Racing hope to finalize the Véliz deal soon and continue building a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
