The legendary Giro d'Italia cycling race is currently underway in Italy. However, Thursday, May 15, took a dramatic turn with a highly unfortunate incident.
Details: A massive crash occurred in the peloton during the race. Numerous riders were caught up in the collision, including Jai Hindley. The 2022 Giro d'Italia champion was unable to continue and was taken away by ambulance for medical evaluation.
It remains unclear when the race will resume.
The Giro d'Italia is a multi-stage cycling race and one of the sport's three Grand Tours, alongside the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. Held annually across Italy over three weeks, usually in May and June, the inaugural edition took place in 1909.
Like other Grand Tours, the modern Giro d’Italia typically features 21 single-day stages spread over a 23-day period, including two rest days.
