Qatar dominated and defeated Lebanon in the opening match of the AFC Asian Cup

On Friday, January 12, the first match of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup took place. The tournament host, Qatar, faced the national team of Lebanon.

In the first half, the hosts dominated possession and occasionally created attacking opportunities. They managed to open the scoring, but a goal was disallowed due to an offside. However, Qatar eventually found the net in the 45th minute through Akram Afif, taking the lead.

After the break, Lebanon tried to level the situation to some extent, but they couldn't create anything significant in attack. In the 56th minute, Qatar further extended their lead. Ali Almoez became the scorer. In injury time, Afif completed a brace, putting the final touch on the game. Qatar calmly secures victory over Lebanon in the opening match of the AFC Asian Cup.
