On February 3, in the last quarter-final match of the Asian Cup, the national teams of Qatar and Uzbekistan faced each other. In the previous stage, the tournament hosts defeated Palestine, while the Uzbeks proved stronger than the Thai national team.

Qatar, the defending champions of the continent, started the match more actively. The opponents prevented them from creating many chances, but eventually conceded. Uzbekistan's goalkeeper, Utkir Yusupov, failed to deal with a simple shot from the flank, scoring an own goal.

In the second half, Uzbekistan completely turned the tide of the match and quickly managed to equalize. Oyiljon Khamrobekov scored a precise shot. Later on, the Uzbeks had an advantage, but the score remained unchanged.

In extra time, both teams tried not to take risks and took the game to a penalty shootout, where luck was on Qatar's side. The decisive miss came from the captain of the Uzbek team, Masharipov. Qatar will now compete against Iran for a place in the final.

Qatar 1 - 1 Uzbekistan (3-2 on penalties)

Goals: Yusupov 27 (own goal) — Khamrobekov 59.
