Pyramids Smash Cleopatra 5-1 but EPL Title Hope Hangs on CAS Ruling

Despite a thunderous 5-1 win over Ceramica Cleopatra, Pyramids FC ended the Egyptian Premier League season in second place, just two points behind champions Al Ahly — but the final standings remain contested.
Jurcic's Joy vs Trophy Reality
Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurcic led emotional celebrations on the pitch, yet the official trophy was already en route to Cairo International Stadium, where Al Ahly thrashed Pharco 6-0 and celebrated a record 45th league crown.
The CAS Wildcard
Pyramids are still clinging to hope, pending a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on whether Al Ahly should lose 3 points over their no-show in the Cairo derby against Zamalek.
While the initial league ruling included the deduction, it was later reduced to a simple forfeit loss — a key change that kept Al Ahly ahead.
Appeals Denied, One Shot Left
So far, two urgent CAS appeals from Pyramids — to delay the title ceremony and enforce the deduction — have been rejected. Both Pyramids and Zamalek also lost their local appeals before the EFA’s Grievances Committee, which ruled that league decisions are final.
Final Whistle or Final Twist?
As it stands, Al Ahly are champions, but Pyramids’ last hope rests with CAS. Until then, Jurcic and his squad wait—knowing their dominant season might still end in legal glory… or heartbreak.
