Pyramids and Al Ahly play out fiery 1-1 draw in title-phase thriller as Chibi and Reda trade late stunners
In Round 2 of the Egyptian Premier League title phase, Pyramids FC was held to a 1-1 draw by Al Ahly in an exciting top-of-the-table match at Cairo's Defense Ministry Stadium, leaving the title race open.
Chibi Breaks the Deadlock for 10-Man Pyramids
The match was intense from the start, with both sides trading early chances. Al Ahly nearly broke through just before halftime when Wessam Abou Ali’s header rattled the crossbar in stoppage time.
The game took a sharp turn in the 59th minute when Mohanad Lasheen received his second yellow card, reducing Pyramids to 10 men. However, against the odds, Moroccan defender Mohamed Chibi fired a spectacular long-range strike into the top corner in the 86th minute, giving Pyramids a 1-0 lead and sparking celebrations.
Ahmed Reda Saves the Day
In the 95th minute, just when Pyramids appeared to be on the verge of a decisive victory, Ahmed Reda had a brilliant moment, putting a shot from the edge of the box past goalkeeper Ahmed Shennawy and dramatically saving a point for Al Ahly.
Tensions Boil Over
An already intense match was intensified in the last minutes by a furious argument between Pyramids manager Krunoslav Jurčić and Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour.
League Standings

Pyramids remain unbeaten in 15 league matches, with their last defeat coming in Round 4 against Al Masry. Al Ahly, meanwhile, stay four points behind but remain firmly in contention for the title.
The Egyptian Premier League title race is expected to be among the most competitive in recent years because both teams are unwilling to give up.
