Mexican side Pumas UNAM confirmed on April 17 that their legal dispute with former player Dani Alves remains active and is currently under review at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to Futbolred. Club president Raúl González Pérez denied reports suggesting the case had been dismissed and clarified that proceedings are still ongoing.

“We are currently in an evaluation phase. There is no resolution yet, but we trust that justice will prevail,” González said. A formal hearing took place on March 25, during which both parties presented their arguments before a three-member arbitration panel.

The university club is seeking around 100 million Mexican pesos—roughly five million US dollars—for what it claims was a breach of contract by Alves. The Brazilian was released from the team in January 2023 following his arrest over an alleged sexual assault, a case for which he was recently acquitted.

Despite rumors of a counter-lawsuit from Alves, Pumas maintains that the claim remains valid and that they are committed to the arbitration process. “We would prefer a quick resolution, but we understand it could take several months. The most important thing is that due process is respected,” González concluded.
