PSL star set to boost IPL squad in 2026 as Dasun Shanaka joins Rajasthan Royals
Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka is ready to swap the Pakistan Super League for the Indian Premier League, joining Rajasthan Royals for the 2026 season.
According to Cricbuzz, the 33-year-old will replace English all-rounder Sam Curran, who is leaving the Royals' roster. The deal is expected to be finalized once all formalities are completed.
Interestingly, Shanaka went unsold at the IPL mini-auction held in Abu Dhabi, but later entered the PSL draft and was picked up by Lahore Qalandars for 7.5 million Pakistani rupees. Now, he is set for an IPL return, where he’ll have a fresh opportunity to make his mark.

Shanaka's move will be the second such case in recent times—earlier, Zimbabwean bowler Blessing Muzarabani made a similar switch from the PSL to the IPL.
It’s worth noting that under the leadership of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals will kick off their 2026 campaign on March 30 against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati. The team will then face Gujarat Titans (April 4), Mumbai Indians (April 7), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (April 10).
