Bayern Munich's central defender, Matthijs de Ligt, is close to leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, de Ligt's future will be determined by the new head coach of Bayern, who will be appointed in the summer. The Dutch defender is unhappy with the amount of playing time under the management of Thomas Tuchel, but Bayern officially announced a change of coach for the next season the day before yesterday.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is actively monitoring de Ligt's situation; they showed interest in the 24-year-old defender back in January. English Premier League clubs are also expected to contend for him in the summer.

De Ligt joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 from Juventus for €67 million. In the current season, he has played only 18 matches and scored 2 goals.

In 2018, de Ligt received the Golden Boy award, presented annually to the best young footballer of the year.
