Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has unexpectedly encountered legal troubles in Spain.

As reported by Relevo, the prosecutor is seeking nearly five years of imprisonment for the Italian coach. Ancelotti has been accused of irregularities in deals related to his image rights in 2014-2015, amounting to 1 million euros.

According to the indictment, despite claiming to be a resident of Spain for tax purposes and stating his address in Madrid, the Italian coach only reflected the compensation for personal work received from Real Madrid in his tax declarations. He did not declare income related to the use of his image rights, which he transferred to other organizations.

Ancelotti has two options: admit guilt and reach a plea deal or fight the charges to clear his name. Former player Xabi Alonso faced similar accusations and was acquitted by the competent legal authority.

Ancelotti coached Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015 and returned to the club in 2021. He recently signed a new contract with the club until the summer of 2026. Under the guidance of the experienced Italian, Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League twice.
