In Matchweek 36 of the Premier League, Chelsea travel to Newcastle to face the Magpies. The Blues were reduced to ten men in the first half, following a VAR intervention.

Details: Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson was shown a straight red card in the 37th minute, although referee John Brooks had initially only booked him for an elbow on Sven Botman.

According to the Premier League Match Centre, the decision was changed following a VAR review, which deemed the incident as serious foul play. The video assistants called Brooks to the monitor, and after reviewing the footage, he decided to send Jackson off.

Reminder: Even before the sending off, Newcastle had taken the lead thanks to Sandro Tonali, who scored against Chelsea in the second minute.
