Last season, Everton was penalized twice with points deductions, and the second points penalty could have carried over into this season. However, common sense prevailed in the end.

Details: The Premier League acknowledged Everton's argument that the £6.5 million financial fair play (FFP) excess was due to interest payments on the new "Toffees" stadium, and therefore, this amount should not be included in the FFP calculations.

In a joint statement from the club and the league, it was stated that the Premier League board concluded that it would not be appropriate to continue reviewing the second part of the case, and it was closed.

Reminder: In May 2024, the Premier League deducted two points from Everton for an FFP violation totaling £16.6 million for the period between 2020 and 2023.

It was also recently reported that former Chelsea, Arsenal, and Fulham midfielder Willian may return to the Premier League, with Everton being a potential destination.
