English football's refereeing body has proposed an innovation that concerns a video assistant referee system at local Premier League matches, but its bosses have not shared the referees' enthusiasm.

According to the Daily Mail, PGMOL, which handles English football's arbitration, had suggested that decisions made by referees should be voiced after consultation with video assistant referees around the stadium, as they already do in MLS matches.

But the Premier League management rejected the idea, believing that it would prolong the already lengthy procedure of verification of decisions by referees VAR system. It will also create additional pressure on referees, which neither the referee corps, nor the league itself do not want.

However, fans will still be aware of the details of those decisions that are made under the influence of video assistants. Earlier, the Premier League created a separate account in X (formerly Twitter), where decisions of the VAR system will be interpreted.
