Anthony Davis joined the Dallas Mavericks as part of the trade that sent Luka Jović to Los Angeles Lakers. However, his debut was marred by an injury, and potential causes have now been identified.

Details: According to ESPN insider Tim MacMahon, Davis was eager to make a strong first impression, but may have returned too soon after an abdominal injury.

Quote: “He was determined to make a big first impression. In the first half, he was dominant. Davis came back from an abdominal injury, possibly a bit prematurely, and it all seems interconnected,” MacMahon stated.

Additionally, Davis may require surgery to repair a damaged adductor muscle, although this has yet to be confirmed. Optimistic projections suggest he could be sidelined for anywhere from a few weeks to a month for recovery.

In his first game, Davis recorded 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks in 31 minutes of play. Notably, he recently missed five games due to an abdominal injury.

Recently, reports surfaced that the Warriors were interested in bringing Kevin Durant back to the team he played for from 2016 to 2019, winning two championships. However, the star forward declined the opportunity.

Reminder: The blockbuster transfer of Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers has sent shockwaves through the sports world, prompting reactions from numerous athletes. Golden State Warriors player Dennis Schröder also weighed in, criticizing the Slovenian’s move.
