Popular streamer plays in Argentina’s Top League match, substituted in the 1st minute
An absolutely surprising story unfolded today in Argentina’s top league during the match between Deportivo Riestra and Vélez Sarsfield.
Details: In Deportivo Riestra’s lineup appeared a well-known Spanish-speaking streamer, Spreen, whose real name is Ivan Buhajeruk.
Spreen is famous for streaming games like Minecraft, Fortnite, and Call of Duty, amassing an audience of over 17 million followers. He has never been involved in football or any other sport. So how did Spreen end up on the pitch?
Spreen is the face of Speed Unlimited, an energy drink that sponsors Deportivo Riestra. To attract extra attention, the brand and club arranged for him to make a brief appearance on the field, a strategy that certainly succeeded.
Interestingly, Spreen was in the starting lineup but was substituted in the 1st minute, right after committing the first foul of the match.
It’s worth noting that, before the game, Vélez Sarsfield held the top spot in the standings, while Deportivo Riestra sat in 12th.
Reminder: In August, during one of live streams, a rocket struck a neighboring building, adding another surprising twist to his streaming career.
